a bit about me
As an oboist hailing from rural Wisconsin, Emily Exline, MT-BC, knows firsthand how to make lemonade out of lemons. She grew up as a self-taught oboist in an area with limited oboe resources, materials, and teachers. Only with the love and support of her family and school music program was she able to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities for her Bachelor’s degrees in Oboe Performance and Music Therapy. She spent the better portion of her degree catching up to her peers on her oboe studies. Here, she fell in love with learning everything there is to know about the oboe. She was able to succeed as a freelancer in the area. Emily Exline now attends the University of Miami to earn her Master’s degree in Oboe Performance. She is also now a board-certified music therapist. Her goal as an oboist and a board-certified music therapist is to make music more accessible to a greater number of communities. Because of her own musical upbringing, she is passionate about outreaching to students in rural, underserved communities, as well as those within the disability community.
